This piece will be in a show in Utica, NY through Feb. 27. If you wish to purchase this, the piece will have to remain in the show until the end before you can take it home. That only builds your excitement! :-) Information about the show.
This piece was included in a group show at Dacia Gallery, New York, NY.
Color harmony with the figure and nature gives us the strong connection that exists between the two. I find the association between the process of painting and the history built with layers of glazes, marks and scrapings, to the history that has created us really interesting. This piece began before I even touched a paint brush. It started with some charcoal and a model. When I began the painting, I wanted to hold onto the drawing characteristics with all its imperfections, so I’ve drawn into the paint with charcoal pencil, the end of the paintbrush handle and my fingernail, digging through those layers. The figure draws strength from her history, and from nature that holds her.
