I painted four 12x12s after hiking along the rocky river leading to Auger Falls this summer. The large rocks, with water moving between them, is really striking. Being there made me feel playful and peaceful. I painted all four paintings side by side, which allowed me to react to the shapes, color, line and texture from the others as I worked on each of them. The result is a cohesive set of works that really speak to each other. It was really different for me to keep my pallet so limited. I had actually intended to keep the pallet limited to just black and white, but I let the blues sneak in there. The blues are a nice accent, I think, and it brought the feel of the river i
