Eyes Not Silenced

Navigating our changing landscape requires us to be ever adaptable. Organic shapes inform my marks and shapes because nature makes a great guide. Nature always overcomes and bounces back. This piece and “Deeper Than Pink” were created together, informing each other in color and feel. I’ve been thinking about the power of red, and used these two pieces to explore how that power works against the softer pink and the neutral grays - how they are supporting characters to that power. But it’s interesting how powerful the pink is as well. This is a self-portrait like statement about the historical view of women.  Women have so much more power and depth than what's been hidden by suppression.
